What is the objective of the Lincoln Legacy Book Project?
As Lincoln approaches its sesquicentennial July 29, 2017, Redbrush wants to bring attention to the people, families, businesses, organizations and events that have shaped Lincoln into the city that it is today.
Our goal is two-fold. First, we want curate 150 stories, ideas, memories of Lincoln in a published coffee table book that celebrates the diversity of our community and its writers. Second, we want to assist 150 Lincolnites become published authors by providing service grants to help underwrite the cost of publishing a full-length book.
What kinds of books are you looking to publish?
First and foremost, Redbrush’s goal is to help people publish books that are of the same professional quality of any traditionally published books. The books included in the Legacy Lincoln collection will meet these high standards as well.
Ideally, we’d like to help people publish books that share interesting and historical stories about their family or businesses. Sharing stories about the family’s business successes or expertise that helped them prove fruitful will be of interest to readers of these books. If there are photographs available, pictorial histories make for interesting and popular books. Fiction writers and poets will choose to share stories related to Lincoln, set in the capital city, and about related topics.
